Swim & run

Day 25:

The pool felt good this morning. Slowly I’m starting to enjoy swimming. I was explaining to someone earlier that both in running and cycling I know how I’m doing just by feel; I know my spinning cadence, or running heart, or pace. Without looking at my watch or bike computer I have a good understanding of how I’m performing and whether or not I’m pushing too hard or not hard enough. It also allows me to know how much more I have in the tank. With swimming I don’t have any of this. My lap times and stokes per length are always a surprise to me when I see the data after I get out of the pool. I don’t know if the pace I’m in when I’m in the water will leave me enough energy for the next X yards in my pool.

Five weeks into to swim training I am finally starting to get a feel for how I’m doing.
