Day 40: A long Saturday ride
It’s kind of unbelievable that as of today I’ve put in 40 days of training. I take each day as it comes but it’s amazing to think back to a month-and-a-half ago when this began. I’m not sure I honestly believed I would get through this program. But, each day that I complete I develop more conviction and confidence that I’ll complete the training for the 70.3.
I’m finishing up Week #7 of my program and the effort levels are starting to rachet up. Today’s plan called for a 45 mile ride;I ended up doing 51 miles. It was long (3.5 hours) and slower than I am targeting for race day, but it was good. My legs feel like Jell-O and I wonder how I’m going to get my long run in tomorrow but we’ll deal with that then. Right now it’s time for sleep so I can get up early and get to the pool for swim lessons.
